FAQs for Natalie Finnie

  • What should people expect from your class?

Ashtanga Yoga is a set sequence of postures synchronised with the breath, so you can expect to practise roughly the same sequence each time you come to class. The pace is fairly quick, so some experience of yoga will be helpful, but not necessary. A warm and welcoming atmosphere, this class is a great place for all levels to learn the Half Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. With your permission, gentle physical adjustments are offered to help you move deeper and more intelligently into the postures

  • If you weren’t a yoga teacher, what would you be?

A physicist! I'd be in a lab testing quantum theories and searching for answers to the fundamental questions of science

  • What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Not to worry about what other people think of you. Almost nobody is thinking about you as much as you think they are! Be yourself and the right kind of people will gravitate towards you, but if you try to please everyone, you'll end up surrounded by people you don't like

  • What do you do outside the Studio?

I spend a lot of time in forests and mountains when I can escape the city for a weekend! I grew up in Wales so I really crave the outdoors. My favourite spot in London is Epping Forest - I go out there for walks as often as I can

  • What’s your favourite asana and why?

Utthita Parsvakonasana - Extended Side Angle Pose. I look forward to this pose each time I practise as it targets so many areas of the body where I feel tight in the mornings. Even though it looks simple, I'm always discovering new ways of working into the pose
